CARDIFF ANIMATION FESTIVAL - COVID-19
Released 12.03.2020 13:00
As of Thursday 12th March Cardiff Animation Festival will be going ahead as planned from the 2nd - 5th April 2020 with a number of measures in place to safeguard the public.
Like many other UK events taking place in April/May, we are monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely and will follow the best available advice from both the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health Wales. Our number one priority is the safety of visitors and as such we’ll let you know immediately of any significant changes to the festival via our website and social media.
If you are exhibiting symptoms listed by the NHS Direct Wales Covid-19 symptom checker, we would encourage you to stay at home.
Some of the precautions we will be taking during the festival dates:
-
We have cancelled international guest speakers’ travel to the festival and will stream masterclasses from our guests abroad via video link at Chapter.
-
We will ensure that hand washing stations and advice regarding effective hand-washing are signposted clearly.
-
We have adjusted some workshop activity that included heavy handling of materials e.g. clay, to reduce the possibility of virus spread.
-
We advise that guests find another way to meet and greet than shaking hands, e.g. finger guns!
-
The venue team will ensure that bins are frequently emptied and that surfaces are frequently sanitised between uses.
If the situation changes closer to the festival dates, including if government statements indicate significant threat to public health, we will put contingency plans into action.
Our number one aim is always to make CAF an inclusive and friendly environment where communities can come together to enjoy animation from across the world. WHO have released a brilliant statement calling for solidarity, not stigma at this moment of uncertainty - we want to reiterate that it’s more important than ever to be kind to each other and embrace community spirit.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on the 2nd-5th April. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to get in touch with us via our contact page.
